Maine State Museum – Augusta Experience Maine’s past by visiting one of the finest state museums in the United States. The museum presents exhibits of Maine’s natural environment, social history and manufacturing heritage.
The Blaine House (Governor’s Mansion) and the State House – Augusta
The Federalist style Blaine House is the home in which the Governor lives and is open for tours. The State House, built from granite quarried in nearby Hallowell, houses both the Executive and Legislative branches of Maine’s state government.
Old Fort Western – Augusta
This National Historic Landmark is New England’s oldest surviving wooden fort. Accompanied by costumes and demonstrations dating to the 18th century, the Fort portrays military, settlement, family, work and community themes.
Pine Tree State Arboretum – Augusta

The Theater At Monmouth, Monmouth
Designated in 1975 by the Maine Legislature as the Shakespearean Theater of Maine, is widely known for its dedication to professional productions of the world's greatest plays in rotating repertory. Performances are held in beautiful Cumston Hall, listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings.
The Waterville Opera House, Waterville
One of the premier theaters in the state, boasts a large seating capacity, excellent acoustics, an unusually elegant interior, and state of the art equipment. The Waterville Opera House is a magnificent turn of the century theater located in the City Hall building. The theater has been preserved and renovated through the efforts of the Waterville Opera House Association and is listed on the National Historic Register.
The Colby College Museum of Art, Waterville
With its 9,000-square-foot Lunder Wing, contains 13 individual galleries making the museum the largest in the state.
The International Film Festival, Waterville
Takes place at the eclectic Railroad Square Cinema (known for its independent, cultural films throughout the year). The Festival is a weeklong collection of award-winning and cult-classic international films.
